Haven't read any Sally Rooney before, but decided to read some after reading Isabel Pabán Freed's essay here. It was a fun book to read on the ereader when I didn't have the mental energy to read tougher things. While Rooney's language is mostly simple and effective in a manner that borders on boring, her dialogue is energetic in a style that feels made-for-TV (and has some of those faults) but I didn't find it nearly as egregious as I thought I might've. Anyways, I don't have much to say, but I think having this ereader will (for better or worse) broaden the horizons of my fiction reading beyond just the modernist tomes I have on my bookshelf.
