Wow, I don't really have much to say, it's awesome. It's an exemplar novel (people say the "first modern novel" but not sure I believe it lol) in the sense that it captures what literature/life is all about--as corny as that sounds. The space between the concerns of its own time and concerns of "literature" are I think relativly easily interpolated by the modern reader. The translation notes were also extremely helpful for historical context and sometimes funny. The ending is suprisingly tragic and touching, I'm still thinking about it now. You got to fight? When to stop fighting? Sancho proverb spam is so real. Would love to read in Spanish at some point if I locked in.
